SPF is always a must!

I want to talk about sunscreen today. Summer is creeping upon us, even though today doesn't feel like it. There are two different types of sunscreens. Chemical and Physical. A Chemical Sunscreen is made of sythenic chemicals which contain UVB but usually also contain ingredients to block UVA rays. Examples of chemicals sunscreens are La Roche Posay Anthelios XL-50 plus, Lancome UV Expert, L'oreal UV Expert (Mexoryl). Also any sunscreen containing Oxybenzone, Avobenzone or Octorylene are all chemical sunscreens. I don't know about you, but I don't want those nasty chemicals absorbing into my skin and also into my blood stream.

Physical Sunscreens are also known as sunblocks. These creams contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. These ingredients physically block the sun and acts as a mirror when the sun hits your skin. Physical Sunscreens do not absorb on the skin, so they act as a layer on the skin. You will see a whitish cast when applying the product. I just warm it by rubbing it in my hands f then applying it to the skin. Some people say that Physical sunscreens are too heavy and they won't use them. You know what I say to that? They must not be using a good sunscreen. There are so many cosmetically elegant sunscreens out there. There are sunscreens that have UVA/UVB and antioxidants in them.

I use a SPF 30 from Skin Ceuticals (Ultimate UV Defense). I use it every single day rain or shine. I bet you ask why am I applying when I am not going directly out into the sun. Well, just think how many pollutants there are out there right now that cause free radical damage in our skin. Free radicals are not are friends. There's perfume, hairspray, gases and environmental stimulies to start. Ladies, when we are driving in the car to pick up or drop off our little ones at school, the sun is beating down on our face while in the car. You will see some ladies that have more pigmentation on the left side of their face because that's the side that faces the window. Even when you see no sun outside, you can still get burnt. Listen guys, all I'm trying to say its protect your face. God only gave us one, so lets rock out what we have and be proud. I gave you the information and now you are informed and have knowledge. No excuses! Use a sunscreen every single day.

Until next time,
Bethany
